NSST lends a hand to Haywood Elementary
By Dave Wasiolek
This year the Metro Nashville Public Schools decided to launch a new program for interscholastic soccer at the elementary school level. MNPS provided the goals, jerseys, and some balls for each team but the individual schools were left to find all the other necessary equipment. With tight budgets these schools were left scrambling to find the resources. One such school, Haywood Elementary, reached out to PENCIL Nashville. PENCIL is an organization that seeks to link schools with needs to community groups with the resources to help meet those needs. As a result, Mike Rossi of PENCIL reached out to the Trust to see if we could assist. The Trust was more than happy to lend a hand and ended up providing spikes, shorts, socks, additional balls, and other equipment to make sure the Haywood players were properly equipped to have a fun and successful season.
As the weather warms and the pitches turn green, feel free to come out and support this initiative by MNPS by cheering on our future NSC players so that one day you can say - "I knew him when".
